Tips To Obtain India Visa Conveniently & Quickly

If you are unfamiliar with the Indian visa application form, then it is important that you familiarise yourself with the form, the different parts and what needs to be done. Following our guidelines below, we tackle the most frequently asked questions regarding your Indian visa application form

1. Parents and Spouses place of birth
The purpose for this part of the Indian visa application form is for the embassy to see if your parents or spouse were born in any countries in which India does not have strong diplomatic ties with. You must complete this part as accurately as possible. You must try and put both the town/city of birth, along with the nationality. If parents/spouse are deceased, then for “present nationality” you can put deceased, and for “previous nationality” you can put British.

2. Purpose of Visit
This part of the Indian visa application form must only have one purpose, and it should not be mixed with two. If you are going for business purposes, then you must write business, and provide the relevant documents for this as well. If you are applying for a tourist Indian visa, however you MIGHT do some business, then in this case only put “tourism”. If you are applying for tourist India visa but are planning to do voluntary work, then to avoid complication, please only mention “tourism”; that is unless you have some supporting documentation.

3. Duration of Indian visa
For this part of the form, you must state how long you wish the Indian visa to be issued for. Our tip is that if applying for a tourist visa you put “6 months multiple”. This will have a 6 month multi entry Indian visa issued. The price of this visa is exactly the same as if you obtained a 1 month single entry visa. If it is a business Indian visa you are applying for, then it is advised to put down “1 year multi entry”, because the price of this is the same as a 1 month single entry Indian business visa.

4. Referees Section
On the Indian visa application form, there is a section that asks for:-

1 Referees in the UK: For this you can put down the name, address and telephone number of friends and family. There is often confusion that character references are required – this is not the case. They are for emergency situations and next of kin only.

2 Referees in India: This part is often the most confusing, because most people do not have contacts in India. If you do have contacts in India, then you can put their details on this part of the visa form. If not then you can a) put the name and addresses of any hotels you might be staying it. If you have no hotels booked, then you can put the name and address of a hotel in your arrival city – and a hotel you may stay at later on.
